Saturday 04-10-2025
Egypt's youth team achieved an exciting victory over Chelsea with a score of 2/1 in the final round of the group stage of the Under-20 World Cup 2025, hosted by Chile.

The Egyptian team turned around a goal deficit to a valuable win in the third round of Group A, earning their first three points in the tournament after two losses to Japan and New Zealand, both with a score of 2/0.

Despite the win, the Egyptian team lost the chance for direct qualification to the Round of 16, after tying with Chelsea and New Zealand with 3 points each.

The Egyptian and Chilean teams were equal in all other criteria, whether in goal difference or the number of goals scored, leading to the second place being decided based on fair play criteria.

According to the tournament regulations, the advantage was awarded to Chile after members of the Egyptian coaching staff received two additional yellow cards in the match, placing the Egyptian team in third place in the group.

The Egyptian youth team is awaiting the results of the other groups to determine their chances of qualifying among the best third-placed teams in the tournament.
