
Four Iraqi Players from Al-Zawraa Leaving Their Mark in the Saudi League
The Saudi Professional League has witnessed the participation of 4 Iraqi players over the past years, all of whom were introduced by Al-Zawraa Club, which the Saudi Al-Nassr team is preparing to face today, Wednesday, in the second round of the group stage of the AFC Champions League.
The striker Marwan Hussein is one of the most prominent stars of Al-Zawraa, having defended its colors between 2008 and 2014, before having a short professional stint with Al-Khaleej Club in Saudi Arabia in the first half of the 2015/2016 season, during which he played 5 matches, 4 of them in the Saudi league, scoring one goal and assisting another.
The right-back Alaa Mhawi also had a brief experience with Al-Batin Club in Saudi Arabia after shining with Al-Zawraa, transferring there in the summer of 2017, but he only participated in two matches before returning to Iraq.
As for the left-back Ali Adnan, he began his career in the youth categories at Al-Zawraa before undertaking multiple professional experiences, reaching Al-Najma Club in Saudi Arabia last season, where he contributed to the team's promotion to the Roshan Saudi League, before transferring to Al-Wahda Club, which he currently represents in the Yelo League.
In midfield, Ibrahim Baish stood out, having played the 2017/2018 season with Al-Zawraa before moving to Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya Club in Iraq, and then joining Riyadh Club in Saudi Arabia last summer. Baish is currently in his second season with the team, having participated in 37 matches, including 35 in the league, scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists.
