Hassan Khalifa, the acting head coach of Al-Ittihad Club, excluded Abdulrahman Al-Aboud, the team's winger, from the Tigers' squad for the match against Al-Ahli Youth of the UAE, yesterday, Tuesday.
The Al-Ittihad team lost to their counterpart Al-Ahli Youth with a score of 1-0 in the match that took place as part of the second round of the Asian Champions League at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
Al-Ittihad Club clarified through its account on X that Al-Aboud suffered a health issue that prevented him from joining the team’s list for the match against Al-Ahli Youth.
With this result, Al-Ittihad occupies the eleventh and second-to-last position in the Asian Champions League standings without any points, while Al-Ahli Youth is in fifth place with 4 points.
The match against Al-Ahli Youth is the first for coach Khalifa with Al-Ittihad after taking over the role following the termination of the contract with Frenchman Laurent Blanc due to the loss in the classic match against Al-Nassr in the league.
