Deco Talks About De Jong's Contract Renewal

The sporting director of FC Barcelona, Deco, spoke about the latest developments regarding the renewal of Dutch star Frenkie de Jong's contract, which is set to expire at the end of the current season (June 2026).

Deco said: "We are in talks, Frenkie really enjoys being here, he has matured on all levels, with family, and within the team... If you are a player with a strong personality, you don’t just want to stay at Barcelona, but because you want to compete for titles, and he sees that he is capable of competing. He sees that and wants to stay here."

He added: "At the club, we see him as a key player in the current project and the coming years, so I believe we will benefit from him to the fullest."

According to the Catalan newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo', Barcelona is very close to reaching an agreement with the Dutch star to renew his contract until the summer of 2029.
