Chelsea Historically Dominates.. Benfica Bets on Its Away Record
Monday 29-09-2025
Chelsea Football Club is preparing to face Portuguese side Benfica in the second round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, in a match scheduled to take place at Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening, Tuesday, at 10 PM Cairo time.

The match carries a special significance, as it will be the first European test for Portuguese coach José Mourinho with Benfica in his second term, facing his former team Chelsea, which he led to achieve great successes in the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup.

Chelsea enters the match with a remarkable historical record against Benfica, having won all three previous European encounters between them, most notably in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in the 2011/2012 season, in addition to winning the Europa League in 2013 at the expense of the Portuguese team. The Blues have also not lost at Stamford Bridge to any Portuguese team in six previous matches.

Despite this dominance, Chelsea has recently been suffering from a negative streak in the Champions League after suffering three consecutive defeats, marking the longest such run in the club's history in the competition.

On the other hand, Benfica is looking to break its curse against English clubs, having not secured a victory in the last seven European encounters against Premier League teams, but the Portuguese team has a good away record, having lost only one of its last six European matches and kept a clean sheet in four of the last five away games.
