A Crucial Day for the Future of San Siro Stadium
Monday 29-09-2025
Italian media reports have revealed that today will be critical in determining the future of the San Siro site, which houses the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, home to AC Milan and Inter Milan.

The "Football Italia" website mentioned that the Milan City Council will hold a meeting today to vote on the proposal to sell the San Siro site and stadium to the two clubs, in a move aimed at completely renovating the stadium to meet the latest standards and be ready to host matches for the UEFA European Championship 2032.

Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala had previously confirmed an agreement with Milan and Inter to purchase the site, while the report indicated that the city council, consisting of 48 members in addition to the mayor, needs a majority vote to pass the decision. If the vote ends in a tie, it will be held again, and in case of a second tie, the proposal will not be approved.

Reports have clarified that council members are equally divided on selling San Siro, with one member remaining undecided. Among the main arguments put forth by opponents is that the two clubs are owned by American investment firms that might benefit in the future from reselling the land for profit.
