The Saudi newspaper "Al-Yawm" reported that Jesus excluded the quintet Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo Brozovic, Kingsley Coman, Pinto Matheus, and Joao Felix from participating in the match for technical reasons in order to grant them rest.
Al-Nassr had previously achieved a 5-0 victory over their counterpart Istiklol Dushanbe from Tajikistan in the first round of the tournament.
