Guardiola: Doku is unstoppable, and Nunez gave us strength against Burnley

Spanish coach Pep Guardiola of Manchester City praised Belgian star Jeremy Doku after his impressive performance in his team's big 5-1 victory over Burnley in the Premier League.

Guardiola said: "I always ask the wingers to play one-on-one in the final third, and I feel that Doku has improved a lot in decision-making compared to the past. He has become more effective in creating goals and seeing spaces, and he is a major threat against teams that defend with a low block."

He added: "Inside the penalty area, one-on-one, Doku is unstoppable. At a distance of five or ten meters, there is no winger who can match him, whether he goes right or left. This opens up space for his teammates to be free, as happened in the second goal."

The Spanish coach also praised the performance of Matheus Nunez, who scored the second goal and assisted the own goal: "We need Matheus's physical strength; his bravery and speed are very important. Burnley played on long balls and counter-attacks, and Nunez helped us a lot. He is a midfielder, so we need to see him, his passes, and his chance creation, and I encourage him to repeat that always."

Regarding the team's overall performance, Guardiola clarified: "We had a wonderful match, except for 10 or 15 minutes where we lost the rhythm. Burnley's results are usually close, but we scored five goals. In the second half, everything was different, and I am very happy with what we showed. The Premier League is very difficult, and since the Manchester United match, the team spirit has become much better."

He concluded: "If we do not play well, we defend as a group, and the solidarity among the players is exceptional. Walker also had a great match, and it is not easy to stop Doku when he is at his best."
