Borussia Dortmund achieved an important victory over their host Mainz with a score of 2-0, in the match held at the Opel Arena, as part of the fifth round of the German league.

Daniel Svensson opened the scoring for Dortmund in the 26th minute, before Karim Adeyemi added the second goal in the 40th minute, giving his team a comfortable advantage before the end of the first half.

In the second half, Mainz's struggles increased after their player Robin Zentner was sent off in the 67th minute, leaving the team to finish the match with ten players without managing to reduce the score.

With this victory, Borussia Dortmund raised their points tally to 13, occupying the second place in the German league standings, while Mainz's points remained at 4, placing them in the thirteenth position.
