AFC Suspends Al-Ittihad Player
The Asian Football Confederation has revealed the penalty for Mohannad Al-Shanqeeti, Al-Ittihad player, following his red card against Al-Wahda of the UAE in the match that brought the two sides together during the first round of the AFC Champions League for elite teams.
Mohannad Al-Shanqeeti received a direct red card in the first half of the match between Al-Ittihad and Al-Wahda, which was hosted at Al Nahyan Stadium and ended with the Emirati team winning by two goals to one.
The AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee has decided to suspend Mohannad Al-Shanqeeti for two matches, which includes an automatic suspension and a fine of $2000.
As a result, Al-Shanqeeti will miss Al-Ittihad's matches against Al-Ahli of the UAE and Al-Shorta of Iraq in the second and third rounds of the AFC Champions League for elite teams.
