The German newspaper "Bild" revealed that Liverpool has joined the list of clubs interested in signing French defender Dayot Upamecano from Bayern Munich, as his contract with the Bavarian team approaches its end next summer.

Upamecano, who is 26 years old, is considered a key player in coach Vincent Kompany's lineup, having participated in three out of four matches in the Bundesliga this season. However, Bayern's management has not yet reached a final agreement regarding the renewal of his contract, despite their ongoing attempts to extend it.

The French defender joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021 from Leipzig for €42.5 million and has since played 158 official matches with the team. With the possibility of leaving for free at the end of the season, he has become a target for several major European clubs, most notably Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Bild clarified that Liverpool prioritizes Upamecano, especially as the contract of his compatriot Ibrahima Konaté nears its end at Anfield, which could open the door for a potential transfer of the French star to the Premier League.

The fate of Upamecano remains uncertain, and while Bayern Munich seeks to resolve his renewal quickly, rival clubs are monitoring the situation to seize the opportunity to sign one of the top defenders in Europe.
