The French newspaper Foot Mercato highlighted the impressive start of Moroccan international Nayef Akkord with Olympique Marseille, following his transfer from West Ham United during the summer transfer window in a deal worth 23 million euros.

The report emphasized that Akkord quickly established himself as a key player in the team's defense, thanks to his consistent performances and defensive solidity, along with his offensive effectiveness that has provided Marseille with valuable points since his first matches.

In the climax of the fifth round of the French league against Paris Saint-Germain, Akkord was the hero of the evening after scoring the only winning goal with a powerful header in the fifth minute, granting his team a historic victory at the "Orange Velodrome". The goal was recorded as the fastest goal for Marseille against their Parisian rival since 1979.

The player's statistics confirmed his superiority: winning 5 out of 7 duels, recovering 6 balls, succeeding in all defensive interventions, and receiving a rating of 8/10, which earned him the "Man of the Match" award.

Mehdi Benatia, the sporting director of Marseille, praised his former teammate, saying: "We know his value well. Akkord has added solidity and confidence to the team, and his performance speaks for itself."

As for Akkord himself, he expressed his satisfaction with his quick integration into the club, stating: "I feel like I've been here for a whole year, thanks to the support of the management and fans. Scoring goals is not my mission, but the most important thing is the team spirit and achieving victories."
