The positive draw of 1-1 decided the summit clash between Al-Zawraa and the Students, in the match that brought them together on Sunday evening at Al-Zawraa Stadium as part of the second round of the Iraqi Stars League.

Al-Zawraa was the better side for most of the match and succeeded in taking the lead in the 29th minute through their player Kazem Raad after continuous pressure on the opponent's goal, while the Students managed to return to the match in the second half when the Libyan professional Karim Al-Areebi scored the equalizing goal in the 65th minute.

The match witnessed great excitement and the loss of many chances, especially from Al-Zawraa, whose players squandered several clear opportunities to settle the match early, leading both teams to share the derby points.
