A new tension has emerged in the city of Bergamo between Atalanta fans and Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman, following Croatian coach Ivan Juric's decision to reintegrate him into the first team training. The fans raised an angry banner labeling him as ungrateful.

Lookman had distanced himself from team training since the end of the 2024/2025 season, after attempting to leave during the summer transfer window and submitting a formal transfer request following the club's refusal of a €45 million offer from Inter. He also attacked the club with a lengthy message on his Instagram account that included direct accusations.

The Nigerian international returned to the UK for weeks during the preparation period and only came back to Bergamo five days before the start of the new Italian league season, which led Juric to exclude him from match rosters until he recently decided to reintegrate him into team training.

However, Lookman's return was not welcomed by the fans, as a clear message appeared in the streets of Bergamo from some supporters that read: "Number 11 is back in training, but for us, you will remain ungrateful."
