Infantino and Lajcic Visit the Grand Tangier Stadium
Saturday 20-09-2025
Sources from "Hiba Sport" revealed that both Gianni Infantino, the President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), and Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, will conduct a field visit today to the Grand Tangier Stadium to oversee the ongoing expansion and maintenance works.

This visit comes as part of the follow-up to the preparations for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, alongside the preliminary arrangements for hosting matches from the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly organized by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.

The Grand Tangier Stadium is considered one of the most prominent stadiums in the northern region of the kingdom, having previously hosted significant international matches, including the FIFA Club World Cup and several high-profile friendly matches. The current works aim to increase the seating capacity and develop the infrastructure and technical standards, in line with the requirements for organizing continental and global tournaments.

This tour is part of a series of expected field visits that will include several stadiums and sports facilities in Morocco, to assess the progress of the projects and ensure the kingdom's readiness to host major football events.

FIFA places special importance on these inspection visits, especially with the upcoming CAN 2025, which Morocco aims to successfully host as a first step towards hosting the 2030 World Cup with global standards.
