The Public Prosecutor Demands Imprisonment for Raúl Asensio
The court number 3 in San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria) announced the opening of a public trial against Real Madrid defender Raúl Asensio along with three former youth players of the club (Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, Andrés García) on charges related to privacy violations, following the recording and publication of sexual videos involving two victims, one of whom is a minor.
According to what was confirmed by the Supreme Court of the Canary Islands, financial bail was imposed on the defendants: 20,000 euros for each of Ruiz, Rodríguez, and García, while Asensio was asked to pay 15,000 euros, while the public prosecutor is demanding a sentence of up to two years and six months and one day in prison for Asensio.
The difference in the case lies in the fact that the first three players are accused not only of disclosing the videos but also of filming them without the victims' consent.
According to media reports, the prosecutor accuses two of them of distributing pornographic materials involving minors along with privacy crimes, while the third is accused of distribution and privacy crimes as well, while Asensio faces two charges of privacy violations only.
On the other hand, Asensio was partially acquitted after one of the victims (18 years old) withdrew her accusation, confirming in an official document that she accepted his apology and granted him personal forgiveness: "I accept his apology freely and voluntarily, and I express my forgiveness to him. I do not want him to be criminally punished."
Despite this, the prosecutor remains committed to pursuing the player regarding the second victim, which keeps him within the course of the trial.
