Liverpool Football Club may face sanctions due to the behavior of its fans during the UEFA Champions League match against Atletico Madrid, after one fan continued to direct insults at the Spanish team's coach, Diego Simeone, throughout the match, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo".

Photos shown by Movistar Channel highlighted the mockery Simeone faced as he left the pitch heading towards the tunnel, and it is expected that UEFA's report and the observations of its delegate during the match will determine the disciplinary actions.

UEFA's regulations in the disciplinary code state that host clubs and national federations are responsible for maintaining order and security inside and around the stadium before, during, and after the match. Article 16 clarifies that clubs are responsible for any use of gestures, words, tools, or any other means to convey an inappropriate provocative message related to the sporting event, especially political, ideological, or religious messages that are offensive.

The punishment for the English club is expected to include a financial fine and possibly the closure of part of the stands, with the penalty usually suspended for two years, as reported by "Mundo Deportivo".
