Mariska Explains Reasons for Loss Against Bayern Munich
Thursday 18-09-2025
Chelsea coach Enzo Mariska spoke after his team's loss to Bayern Munich with a score of 3-1 in the first round of the Champions League group stage, in a match held at the Allianz Arena.

Mariska said in his statements to TNT Sports: "Overall, the performance was good. We started the match strongly in the first 20 minutes and created two or three chances. But after the first goal, which could have been avoided, the game changed a bit."

He added: "We were in the flow of the game and scored a goal. The referee's decision not to send off Jonathan Tah was tough because it was closer to a red card than a yellow. Nevertheless, we started the second half well and created some chances."

Regarding the turning point that decided the match, the Italian coach explained: "After we conceded the third goal, the game changed again. That goal killed the match for us. We tried to hold on until the end, but with the penalty, the non-red card, and the own goal, it becomes difficult."

Mariska concluded his remarks: "We can learn from this match; such encounters require playing the right way for a full 95 minutes, not just for periods. At times, we weren't good enough. The performance was good overall, and now it's time to recover because we have a tough match ahead in a few days."
