Gianluigi Donnarumma, the new goalkeeper of Manchester City, expressed his great happiness at joining the English team, confirming that it was his first and only choice after his contract with his former club Paris Saint-Germain ended.

In statements during the press conference preceding the match between Manchester City and Napoli in the Champions League, Donnarumma said: "I don't like to talk about the past, everyone makes their own decisions, and that's part of football."

He added: "Now I am here, very happy and proud, and I wish my former teammates success because they deserve it. I have a wonderful relationship with them, and they showed me great affection even after they knew about my departure."

The Italian goalkeeper continued: "It was a pleasure to know that I left a positive impact on my former teammates, and this makes me proud. Before the summer transfer window, I knew that Manchester City was very interested in me, and our relationship strengthened; I had no other options to talk about."

Donnarumma clarified: "I knew that Pep Guardiola was pushing for my signing, and everyone wanted me here, which gave me a great motivation and pride to see this support and affection. I hope to give my best for Manchester City."

He added: "I was very clear about my desire to come here, and this was my first and only choice. I am very happy to be at Manchester City, and I hope to stay here for many years to come."

Regarding the match against Napoli, Donnarumma said: "We need to focus on each match individually, and tomorrow's match will be difficult as it is the first round in the Champions League, which is always the most challenging."
