Leonardo Awaits Football Association Decision to Determine His Future with Al Hilal
Tuesday 16-09-2025
Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo, who plays for Al Hilal, is awaiting the Saudi Football Association's decision on amending the regulations for 'born' players under 21 years old, before determining his future with the team in the upcoming period, according to the 'Globo Esporte' network.

Sources indicated that the Al Hilal management reached an agreement with the Brazilian striker allowing him to participate in the AFC Champions League until January next year, pending the outcome of the regulatory amendments.

The two parties also agreed to exclude him from the team list in the Roshan Saudi League for the time being, with a review of his registration during the upcoming winter transfer window.

The club management granted the player the number '9' jersey in recognition of his impressive performance last season, which solidified his position among the top strikers in the region.

It is worth noting that Italian coach Simone Inzaghi indicated in late August that the regulations for born players prevented Leonardo from being registered in the league list after his classification changed, confirming that the situation is under careful review with the management.

Leonardo joined Al Hilal in the summer of 2024 from Benfica for a fee of 40 million euros and managed to score 30 goals in 46 matches across all competitions last season.
