Real Madrid Escalates Dispute with Referees to FIFA.. Barcelona at the Heart of Accusations
Monday 15-09-2025
Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" revealed that Real Madrid is preparing to submit a comprehensive file to the International Football Federation (FIFA), including its official objections to refereeing performance in local and continental matches in a strategic escalation to turn its dispute with Spanish refereeing into an international issue.

The file contains video clips, reports, and statistical comparisons with Barcelona, which is at the forefront of this report, as Real Madrid believes there is discrimination in refereeing decisions between it and its traditional rival, whether in the number of red cards or controversial moments in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

The club also relies on what is known as the Negreira case, considering that its influence is still present, given that some referees who previously had indirect relationships with José María Enriquez Negreira or his son continue to officiate.

Among the most notable cases included in the file are:

The disallowed goal for Arda Güler due to a handball.

The close offside calls on Kylian Mbappé.

The reliance on video technology and the semi-automatic offside system.

The red card received by Dean Housen during the match against Real Sociedad.

The report confirms that Real Madrid aims, through this file, to prove its repeated exposure to refereeing damage, demanding direct intervention from FIFA in this issue, which the royal club sees as exceeding the local scope.
