The Police Rely on Three Factors to Overcome Al-Sadd of Qatar
Sunday 14-09-2025
The Police team eases its journey in the AFC Champions League for the elite 2025-2026 with an anticipated match against Al-Sadd of Qatar, scheduled for tomorrow evening, Monday, at the Al-Zawraa Stadium in the capital, Baghdad.

The Police represents Iraqi football in the continental tournament as the champion of the Iraqi Premier League from last season, having managed to secure its fourth consecutive title, confirming its local dominance and preparing for a new test on the Asian level.

Egyptian coach Moamen Soliman is seen as the true leader of the Green Lyre, thanks to his close relationship with the players and his ability to read matches. The team has notably regained its balance under his leadership, which enhances optimism for a different version this season.

The match will take place at Al-Zawraa Stadium, which accommodates about 16,000 spectators, amid expectations of full stands with the loyal fans of the Police. This large fan presence represents an additional strength for the team in facing a strong opponent like Al-Sadd.

The team enters the match in high readiness, after most of its players joined training following the international break. The Police relies on its star Syrian player Mahmoud Mawas, goalkeeper Ahmad Basel, and defender Manaf Younis to ensure balance and achieve a positive result.

The Iraqi Football Association had decided to postpone the match between Al-Zawraa and the Police in the local league, due to both teams' commitments to continental participation in the AFC Champions League for the elite and AFC Champions League 2.
