The English club Manchester City is striving to enter the race for the signing of Dutch international Denzel Dumfries, defender of Inter Milan, during the upcoming winter transfer window in January 2026, in order to strengthen the team's ranks amid the injury crisis they are facing.

The Spanish club Barcelona had shown significant interest in signing Dumfries and has prioritized him in the upcoming summer transfer market. However, Manchester City's move threatens to snatch the deal from the Catalan club.

According to the Spanish newspaper "AS", Pep Guardiola, the City manager, considers Dumfries one of his main targets to bolster the right flank, especially with the team's need to enhance defensive depth in the second half of the season, as they compete in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

In previous statements, Dumfries did not hide his desire to experience playing in the Premier League, stating: "I play in the Italian league and I am comfortable at Inter, but I believe I can also perform well in the Premier League. It undoubtedly matters to me, as the Premier League is known for its intensity, while the Italian league is considered one of the strongest tactically.

Dumfries has three years left on his contract with Inter Milan, which officially ends on June 30, 2028, giving the Italian club a strong position in the upcoming negotiations.
