The Olympic Committee Confirms the Readiness of Iraqi League Clubs for the New Season
The President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muftin, confirmed yesterday, Friday, that the clubs of the Iraqi Stars League possess a strong base of talents and infrastructure, which qualifies them to compete at both regional and continental levels, in a statement that reflects great optimism for the upcoming football season 2025–2026.
This came during the inauguration ceremony of the football season, which was held in a festive atmosphere, attended by a selection of sports and administrative figures and representatives of the participating clubs in the league. Muftin emphasized that this event represents an important step towards enhancing and developing Iraqi football.
Muftin indicated in his statement to Al-Sumaria News that the celebration reflects the great interest that sports institutions in Iraq are giving, affirming joint efforts to provide all the capabilities to ensure the success of the upcoming football season. He added that the league clubs now have a strong infrastructure and a wide base of talented players, which makes them capable of achieving honorable results both locally and continentally, while stressing the need for continued administrative, financial, and technical support to uplift the football reality in the country.
