Portuguese coach Jose Gomez, the current manager of Al Fateh Club in Saudi Arabia and former manager of Zamalek, has clarified his position regarding the news linking him to the leadership of Al Ahly in Egypt in the near future.

Gomez explained in statements to the "Al Joul" website that the speculation in the Egyptian media about his transfer to Al Ahly is not based on any official communication so far.

The Portuguese coach added that sports news in Egypt is always widely circulated, which leads to rumors spreading quickly without any real basis.

Gomez confirmed that he is currently focused on his work with Al Fateh, noting that he does not know any additional details regarding potential negotiations with Al Ahly.

Recent press reports have indicated that there is interest from Al Ahly's management in signing Gomez, following the departure of Spanish coach Jose Ribeiro due to poor results.

It is worth mentioning that Gomez led Zamalek during 2024, managing to win the African Confederation Cup title, in addition to the African Super Cup, which made him one of the prominent foreign coaches who left a quick mark in Egyptian football.
