Journalist Nicola Schira stated that French defender Ibrahima Konaté, a player for Liverpool, is very close to leaving the Reds to join Spanish club Real Madrid.

According to Schira, the French defender has rejected multiple offers from the club's management to renew his contract, as well as a huge financial offer from the Saudi Pro League.

According to the same source, Konaté has made up his mind and wishes to move to Real Madrid for free after the end of his contract with Liverpool at the end of the current season, as he prepares to sign a long-term deal extending until the summer of 2031 with the royal club.

Konaté's potential joining would significantly enhance Real Madrid's defensive options and provide coach Xabi Alonso with a strong long-term addition, especially after signing Dean Haussmann this summer.
