Al-Zawraa Club President Objects to League Draw!!
Al-Zawraa Club President Haidar Shanshul expressed his strong objection to the schedule of his team's matches in the Iraqi Stars League for the new season 2025-2026, asserting that the draw was not fair at all to the Al-Nawras.
It was scheduled for Al-Zawraa to start its journey in the first round against Al-Shorta, but the match was postponed due to both teams' continental participation, so the team will begin its journey in the second round with a public match against Al-Talaba, then meet in the third round with Al-Karma, before clashing in the fourth round with its traditional rival Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in the Clasico of Iraqi football.
Shanshul said in his statements:
"For 20 years, I have been following La Liga, and I have never seen the draw placing Barcelona or Real Madrid in very difficult matches at the beginning. Why is Al-Zawraa's draw like this?"
He added, challenging La Liga President Javier Tebas:
"As a popular club, we should be treated according to a system similar to La Liga, where big matches are distributed evenly throughout the season, not thrown into the early rounds in a way that burdens the players and affects continental participation."
The President of Al-Zawraa Club concluded his speech by saying:
"Despite the difficult start, we have great confidence in the coaching staff and the players, and we will rise to the challenge whether in the local league or in the AFC Champions League 2."
