UEFA clarified in an official statement that the committee discussed the requests submitted by the Italian and Spanish federations, aimed at holding one match from the local league outside the home country, specifically outside the territories of the European Football Association.

The association stated: "There are many factors that need to be taken into account, and as the organizer of European football, UEFA has the responsibility to carefully consider all these aspects."

It is worth mentioning that the San Siro Stadium in Milan will not be available in February 2026 due to hosting the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, prompting the clubs Milan and Como to propose holding the match in Australia as an alternative option.
