Chelsea Responds to Financial Misconduct Charges

Chelsea FC has issued an official statement via its website, responding to the 74 charges brought against it by the English Football Association due to violations that occurred during Roman Abramovich's tenure.

The club stated: "Chelsea Football Club is pleased to confirm the conclusion of its negotiations with the English Football Association regarding the matters reported by the club itself."

It added: "The club's ownership group completed the purchase of the club on May 30, 2022, and during a thorough and comprehensive due diligence process prior to completing the purchase, the ownership group became aware of incomplete financial reports related to historical transactions and other potential violations of the English Football Association's rules."

It continued: "Immediately after completing the purchase, the club informed all relevant regulatory bodies, including the English Football Association, about these matters."

The statement concluded: "The club has demonstrated unprecedented transparency throughout this process, including providing comprehensive access to the club's files and historical data."

It emphasized: "We will continue to work with the English Football Association to resolve this matter as quickly as possible."

Finally, it stated: "We would like to express our gratitude to the English Football Association for its cooperation with the club in this complex issue, which focused on matters that occurred over a decade ago.
