Carrasco Shocks Besiktas and Leaves His Future with Al-Shabab Uncertain
Sunday 07-09-2025
Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco, a player for Al-Shabab, rejected an offer from Turkish club Besiktas after the club's management backed away from negotiations due to the high financial demands set by the seasoned star.

Belgian journalist Sasha Tavaillier explained that negotiations between the two parties quickly halted after Besiktas officials encountered Carrasco's current salary, which they considered a barrier to completing the deal.

The 31-year-old Carrasco joined Al-Shabab in the summer of 2023 from Spanish club Atletico Madrid, and since his arrival, he has established himself as one of the standout players in the Saudi league thanks to his individual skills and extensive European experience.

The player has a rich career that began at French club Monaco, before moving to Atletico Madrid, then experiencing a professional stint in the Chinese league with Dalian Pro, and later returning to Madrid to win the Spanish league title in the 2020-2021 season.

Despite continuing with Al-Shabab for now, his future remains widely debated, especially after his name was recently linked to offers from Turkish and Qatari clubs, while close sources confirmed that he is open to a new experience provided that his contract value is maintained.

With the transfer windows in Saudi Arabia and Turkey closing in a few days, Carrasco's fate remains unclear, while Al-Shabab management confirms that they will not let him go unless a strong financial offer that matches his market value and long experience is received.
