FIFA Reviews Laporte's Transfer After Bilbao's Complaint
The International Football Federation "FIFA" has begun reviewing the procedures related to the transfer of French defender Aymeric Laporte to Al Nassr, following an official request from Spanish club Athletic Bilbao to reconsider the details of the deal.
The Spanish newspaper "Marca" revealed that the global transfer system "TMS" relies on the data provided by the two involved clubs, and if the documents are complete and valid, FIFA will directly approve the transfer officially and definitively.
Bilbao officials assured the international federation that they did not make any mistakes in the process, emphasizing that all their steps were correct, and they demanded a reevaluation of the decision related to Laporte's transfer to the Saudi league.
The newspaper indicated that FIFA intends to study the file next week, either on Tuesday or Wednesday, as soon as it receives all the documents sent by the Spanish club, although the chances of changing the situation seem almost nonexistent.
According to "Marca", similar cases that have been considered previously did not lead to any significant changes, as the evidence provided by Al Nassr appears strong and consistent with the rules governing player transfers.
At the same time, Bilbao is considering appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to file an additional appeal, hoping to find a legal loophole, noting that a free transfer is only possible if the contract is terminated before the closing of the registration period.
