Injury Crisis at PSG Before Clash with Barcelona in the Champions League
Saturday 06-09-2025
Paris Saint-Germain faced a significant blow ahead of their anticipated match against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, scheduled for October 1, due to injuries to both Ousmane Dembélé and Désirée Doué during the France vs. Ukraine match in the World Cup qualifiers.

Dembélé, a former Barcelona player, did not start the match due to discomfort in his right hamstring, but he came on in the second half in place of Doué, before requesting a substitution immediately after feeling pain, with confirmation later that he would miss the upcoming match for France against Iceland on September 9.

Coach Didier Deschamps defended his decision to include Dembélé, saying: "I included him because he was physically ready, and if he hadn't been, I wouldn't have done so. The injury is in the other thigh and he didn't feel anything severe, but unfortunately, these things happen."

French newspaper "L'Équipe" indicated that Dembélé's injury could be serious, threatening his participation in upcoming matches, including the European clash against Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Désirée Doué, also a Paris Saint-Germain player, left the field after suffering an injury to his calf muscle (the twin muscle), and the severity of the injury or the expected duration of his absence has not yet been revealed.

These injuries add to an incident involving the team's coach Luis Enrique, who suffered a collarbone fracture while cycling.
