Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, a player for Al Ahly, has confirmed his full readiness to appear with his national team against Sudan on Friday, as part of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, according to special sources for 'Al Riyadiyah'.

The sources revealed that Mendy, who is 33 years old, has fully recovered from the bruise he sustained during Al Ahly's training before the match against Al Arabi in the King Abdulaziz Cup, which ended with Al Ahly winning 5-0.

The veteran goalkeeper is expected to participate in Senegal's matches against Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, before returning to represent Al Ahly in upcoming local and international competitions.

Since joining Al Ahly in July 2023, Mendy has played 77 official matches, during which he managed to keep a clean sheet in 33 encounters, while conceding 77 goals across various competitions.

The Senegalese goalkeeper played a significant role in helping Al Ahly win the AFC Champions League last season, and he was also a hero in the Super Cup after saving a crucial penalty against Abdullah Al-Khaibari of Al-Nassr in the final held in Hong Kong.

On the team front, Al Ahly players will return to training next Sunday after the break granted by German coach Matthias Jaissle, in preparation for the match against Al-Ettifaq on September 12, as part of the second round of the Roshn Saudi League.
