Union Finalizes Roger Fernandes Deal
The management of Al-Ittihad Club has reached an agreement with Sporting Braga to purchase the remaining duration of the contract of Portuguese midfielder Roger Fernandes, before the summer transfer market closes, according to the Portuguese newspaper "Record".
According to the report, the value of the deal is around 35 million euros, consisting of 33 million as a fixed amount, in addition to 2 million euros as performance-related variables linked to the player's official appearances with the Al-Ittihad team.
Al-Ittihad succeeded in outmaneuvering several prominent European clubs that were closely monitoring the player, including Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, who expressed a strong desire to sign the young Portuguese talent.
It is worth noting that Fernandes, born in November 2005, grew up in Braga's academy and made his first-team debut in the Portuguese league during the 2021-2022 season, where he played two full seasons, participating in 59 matches, scoring seven goals, and providing ten assists.
The player has also participated in four matches this season in the Portuguese league with Braga, managing to score the equalizing goal against Rio Ave in a match that ended 2-2, in addition to assisting the opening goal against Ferreira in the second round.
The Al-Ittihad fans expect Fernandes to be a significant technical addition to the midfield, especially with his young age and talent that has made him the focus of major European clubs in recent times.
