The Spanish newspaper "Marca" reported that Leverkusen has reopened negotiations with Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez to be the successor to Ten Hag, but the latter has rejected the offer for the second time, considering that the current timing is not suitable for a return to the coaching world.

The newspaper clarified that Xavi has been the club's first choice since the departure of Xabi Alonso, but all attempts have failed so far, putting Leverkusen's management in a significant challenge to choose a capable replacement to lead the team.

The German club announced the dismissal of their Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag after just 98 days of hiring him following disappointing results in the new season.
