Manchester City has announced the signing of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain, on a contract that extends until the summer of 2030, making him one of the club's most notable signings in the transfer market.

Donnarumma, who is 26 years old, has had a remarkable career despite his young age, establishing himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe thanks to his tall stature (1.96 m) and amazing reflexes.

He began his career with AC Milan, making his first-team debut at the age of sixteen, and played over 250 matches in the Rossoneri jersey, contributing to winning the Italian Super Cup in 2016.

In the summer of 2021, he moved to Paris Saint-Germain, where he shone brightly, winning four Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France titles, and three Trophée des Champions titles over four years, before concluding his journey with the Parisian club by winning the UEFA Champions League for the first time in Paris's history, with a resounding victory over Inter Milan 5-0 in the final of the 2023/24 season.

On the international stage, Donnarumma played a crucial role in Italy's victory at Euro 2020, excelling in the penalty shootout against England and earning the tournament's Best Player award.

The Italian goalkeeper said after signing: "Joining Manchester City is a special moment in my career. Playing under Pep Guardiola and with this group of stars is a dream come true. I look forward to starting this adventure and achieving more successes with the club."

For his part, Hugo Vieira, the Director of Football at City, confirmed that signing Donnarumma represents a strong addition to the team, stating: "Gianluigi has immense experience despite his young age and is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world. We are happy to have him on board, and he will significantly enhance the quality of the team."
