Officially.. Inter Announces the Signing of Akanji
Inter Milan announces the signing of Swiss defender Manuel Akanji on loan from Manchester City, with an option to buy or an obligation for a permanent transfer if certain conditions are met.
Akanji, who is 29 years old, was born in the Swiss city of Wiznang and began his football career with the club Wiznang before moving to Winterthur, then Basel, where he won the Swiss league title twice and the Swiss Cup once.
In January 2018, he joined Borussia Dortmund and played over 150 matches with them, winning the DFB-Pokal and the German Supercup.
In the summer of 2022, Akanji moved to Manchester City, where he played 136 matches over three seasons, scoring five goals, and contributing to the collection of many titles, most notably: the UEFA Champions League, the Premier League twice, the FA Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
On the international stage, Akanji has 71 caps for the Swiss national team since his debut in 2017, participating in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, and shining in Euro 2024 where he was selected in the tournament's best XI.
