Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' confirmed that young midfielder Fermin Lopez has definitively decided to stay with FC Barcelona, thus ending the ongoing speculation about his future as the summer transfer window comes to a close.

The newspaper clarified that the player did not request to leave the team at any moment, despite interest from English club Chelsea, which made an official offer of 40 million euros plus bonuses. However, Barcelona's management refused to enter into negotiations as they did not wish to sell the player.

Head coach Hans Flick expressed his commitment to Fermin, considering him an important element in his plans, despite the strong competition he faces in his position from other strong names. Nevertheless, Fermin decided to stay and fight for his place, especially with his contract extending until June 2029.
