Saudi Competition for the Signing of Veigl from Monchengladbach
The management of Al-Qadisiyah Club moved unexpectedly to compete with Al-Shabab for the services of German midfielder Julian Veigl from Borussia Monchengladbach, according to special sources for "Al-Riyadiyah" on Sunday evening.
The sources clarified that Al-Shabab submitted an official offer to sign Veigl for two years at a value of 2.5 million euros, but the German club has not made a decision, justifying this by the existence of a larger offer from Al-Qadisiyah amounting to five million euros.
Al-Shabab's management was close to completing the deal, but the delay in finalizing the financial settlement with Senegalese Habib Diallo prevented the submission of the official offer earlier, giving Al-Qadisiyah the opportunity to enter the competition strongly.
Once Al-Shabab finalized the settlement with Diallo on Sunday, the management rushed to submit their offer to buy the contract of the German player, who has become a mutual point of interest between the two Saudi clubs.
It is noteworthy that "Al-Riyadiyah" newspaper had indicated in its issue published last Tuesday that Veigl had given his initial approval to move to the Saudi league, while awaiting the final details to be settled between Monchengladbach and the interested clubs.
The newspaper also revealed on August 19 that Al-Shabab had offered to loan Veigl for two seasons with the right to purchase, at a time when the player is contracted with his German club until 2028 after experiences with Borussia Dortmund and Benfica from Portugal.
