Yaissle Excludes Mendy from Al Ahly's Squad Against Al Arabi
Sunday 31-08-2025
The German coach Matthias Yaissle has decided to exclude Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from the Al Ahly squad called up for the match against Al Arabi, as part of the Round of 32 in the King Abdulaziz Cup.

Al Ahly will face Al Arabi, one of the first division clubs, this evening, Sunday, at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah, amid public anticipation for the team's journey in this prestigious tournament.

Mendy's exclusion comes due to an injury he recently sustained, as he has not fully recovered yet, which led the coaching staff to rely on other alternatives to protect the team's goal during this match.

Ivorian Frank Kessie is expected to wear the captain's armband for Al Ahly in the match, in light of the absence of the first-choice goalkeeper, while keeping the starting lineup complete in the other positions.

It is noteworthy that Al Ahly had exited the King's Cup competitions early last season from the same round, after suffering a surprising loss to Al Jandl with a score of 2-1, which adds pressure to today's match against Al Arabi.
