Real Betis inquires about Manchester United goalkeeper
Tuesday 26-08-2025
The website "Football Spain" revealed that Manchester United is preparing for an active period in the final days of the summer transfer market, as they seek to finalize several deals, with one of the most notable being the departure of Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana, who has fallen out of favor with coach Ruben Amorim.

Onana, who is 29 years old, has become open to leaving Manchester United, but his complicated financial situation poses a barrier to his exit, especially after joining the club in a deal worth 50 million euros just two years ago. Reports indicate that the English club is seeking a fee of no less than 35 million euros, with Inter Milan interested in bringing back the goalkeeper.

In a surprising development, Real Betis has expressed interest in the Cameroonian goalkeeper, according to the same source, as officials from the Spanish club have contacted Manchester United to inquire about the possibility of signing him. This move comes in the context of ongoing discussions between the two parties since the beginning of the summer regarding a potential deal to bring Anthony back to La Liga.

Despite signing goalkeepers Pau López and Álvaro Valdés this summer, the option to acquire Onana is on Betis's table, but only on a loan basis due to the financial constraints the club is facing. It is not expected that the goalkeeper position will be a top priority unless the Spanish club decides to give Onana a chance to rebuild his form, as was the case with Anthony.
