The Iraqi Football Association is preparing to launch a new edition of the Iraq Stars League for the 2025-26 season, with the application of an innovative draw system being used for the first time in the history of the tournament, as part of efforts to develop the competition's reality and enhance transparency among clubs.

The league is expected to kick off in September, after final touches are made to determine the official start time.

Special sources stated that the Iraqi Federation, led by its president Adnan Darjal, held intensive meetings with representatives of La Liga in Iraq, the body overseeing the competitions, to discuss preparations for the new season, including the implementation of the draw using artificial intelligence technologies, as is practiced in European and global competitions.

This step aims to achieve fairness among all clubs, save time, and ensure the speed and accuracy of the draw, emphasizing transparency as artificial intelligence will be an independent entity from any party.

The sources clarified that the Iraqi Federation will pay special attention to the issue of club travel, as land transportation between provinces has previously raised objections from clubs, especially teams from northern and southern Iraq, due to the fatigue resulting from covering long distances.

The source also indicated that the new season will see the use of advanced digital technologies, through contracts with global companies specialized in statistics and numbers, especially after Iraqi clubs have strengthened their ranks with professional players from Arab and European countries, making the league more followed by fans from neighboring countries.

The start date of the league is set to be finalized after ensuring the readiness of the stadiums, which are currently undergoing maintenance and rehabilitation works, to ensure a professional edition that meets the aspirations of local and international fans.
