The Football Federation Rejects Al-Hilal's Request Regarding the Riyadh Match
The Saudi Football Federation has rejected the request submitted by Al-Hilal ahead of their opening match against Riyadh in the Roshen Saudi League for the new season 2025 – 2026, which was related to assigning a foreign refereeing team to officiate the match.
Al-Hilal will host Riyadh next Friday, August 29, at the "Kingdom Arena" stadium, in the first round of the new league edition, amid significant public interest in the opening match.
The Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah" revealed that the reason for rejecting Al-Hilal's request was due to the club's delay in submitting it, as they did not adhere to the timeframe set by the Referees Committee for bringing in foreign referees for league matches.
The participation of foreign referees in the first round of the tournament is limited to the matches of Al-Ahli against Neom, and Al-Qadisiyah against Al-Najma, after those clubs adhered to the deadlines specified by the Football Federation.
The regulations of the Referees Committee emphasize the necessity for clubs to submit requests for foreign referees at least 21 days before any match in the Roshen League, while only a 14-day deadline is set for King’s Cup matches.
