UEFA Inspects Camp Nou Stadium
Thursday 21-08-2025
A committee from UEFA conducted a site visit to Spotify Camp Nou this morning to assess its readiness to host Champions League matches, amid strong indications that Barcelona will not receive the necessary permits in time, forcing them to play at Montjuïc Stadium.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Marca", the Barcelona municipality has not yet granted the Catalan club the initial work permit, which is the legal authorization that allows the stadium to open to the public.

Under UEFA regulations, Barcelona must designate only one stadium to host matches in the group stage of the Champions League, and all four home matches must be played at the same venue.

Therefore, forecasts suggest that Montjuïc will be the closest option, while the team may be able to return to Camp Nou starting from the Round of 16, if they qualify, and after meeting UEFA's conditions.

Barcelona had hoped to play their first away match between September 16 and 18, to postpone hosting any European match, but without official approval from UEFA, achieving this scenario seems impossible at the moment.
