The Saudi Al-Ittihad Club is seeking to sign Frenchman Adrien Rabiot, the midfielder from Marseille, during the current summer transfer window, as part of the club's plan to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.

Reports have revealed that the Al-Ittihad management has begun its communications with Rabiot to discuss the possibility of his transfer to the Roshan League this summer, amid the club's urgent desire to add a distinguished element to the midfield.

The move by the Al-Ittihad administration came after determining the necessity to reinforce the midfield, especially after the decision to part ways with the Brazilian duo Fabinho Tavares and Algerian Houssem Aouar, which opened the door for signing a player with significant European experience like Rabiot.

According to the same sources, the Marseille management does not oppose the departure of the French player during the current transfer window, which enhances Al-Ittihad's chances of securing the deal if financial details are agreed upon.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Ittihad lost to Al-Nassr by two goals to one in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup held last Tuesday in Hong Kong, which prompted the management to expedite its steps towards making strong signings.
