Union Studies Signing Brazilian Wendel to Strengthen Midfield

The management of Al-Ittihad Club has begun to include the name of Brazilian Marcos Wendel, midfielder of the Russian Zenit team, among its options for contracting during the ongoing summer transfer window, as confirmed by special sources to 'Al-Riyadiyah'.

This move comes after the loss to Al-Nasr with a score of 2-1 in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup in Hong Kong, as the management seeks to make adjustments that include one or two players in the midfield.

Wendel is 27 years old, and his market value is estimated at around 18 million euros according to 'Transfermarkt', while his current contract with Zenit continues until the summer of 2028.

The player began his football career with Fluminense in Brazil before moving to Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, and then settled at Zenit in Russia since the summer of 2020, where he is entering his fifth season with the team.

Throughout his professional career, Wendel has played 289 matches, scoring 34 goals and providing 46 assists, while he has not represented the Brazilian senior team, but he participated with the under-23 national team in 11 matches, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
