The English club Manchester City is close to finalizing the renewal of its young defender Rico Lewis's contract, after the player agreed to stay with the team for a long period ahead.

According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rico Lewis has officially agreed to extend his contract with City until June 2030, remaining part of manager Pep Guardiola's long-term project.

Rico Lewis, who is 20 years old, is one of the graduates of Manchester City's academy and was promoted to the first team in 2022. He previously renewed his contract with the club in the summer of 2023 until 2028, before both parties reached a new agreement for an additional extension.

Nottingham Forest had attempted to sign the player this summer, making an official offer of £25 million, but Manchester City rejected the offer and preferred to keep their young defender, who played 44 matches last season, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
