The Penalty for Mane Revealed After His Red Card Against Al-Ittihad
The referee advisor Abdullah Al-Qahtani revealed the expected penalty against Senegalese Sadio Mane, a player for Al-Nassr, following his red card during the match against Al-Ittihad in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup held in Hong Kong.
Al-Qahtani explained through the program "Dourina Ghair" that Mane will face a one-match suspension, meaning he will miss the anticipated final of the tournament, with the penalty not extending to other matches.
He clarified that the red card was issued due to a violent tackle on the Al-Ittihad goalkeeper, which is classified as violent play rather than misconduct, and thus the penalty is limited to a one-match suspension only.
Mane received a direct red card in the 25th minute of the first half after a strong clash with the Al-Ittihad goalkeeper, leaving Al-Nassr to continue the match with ten players.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Al-Nassr managed to win with a score of two to one, with Mane scoring the first goal in the 10th minute and Joao Felix adding the second in the 61st minute, while Al-Ittihad's goal came from Steven Bergwijn in the 16th minute.
