The French star Kylian Mbappe led Real Madrid to achieve their first victory in La Liga for the 2025-2026 season after scoring the winning goal against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Mbappe said: "It's the first match of the season, and it was important for us to start with a win at home. We knew that the match would be difficult because Osasuna came with a clear plan to play on counterattacks through Budimir. We trained for that and succeeded in dealing with it."

He added: "In the first half, we didn't find enough spaces and tried to play from side to side. In the second half, we scored an early goal which gave us control. We aimed to score a second goal, but the most important thing is that we achieved the victory. We are positive and will continue to fight for more."

Regarding the coach's instructions, Mbappe explained: "He asked us to control the ball and play in the opponent's half to force them to run and open spaces. We worked on that throughout the week, and I think we implemented it well, although there are some details that need improvement as the season progresses."

On scoring the first goal of the season, he said: "I feel good, but what matters most to me is helping the team offensively and defensively. Goals will come, and we need to focus on victories."

Regarding wearing the number 10 jersey: "It's a special number and has great value here. Last season I played with the number 9, which was also an important number. I feel lucky to wear two big numbers in consecutive seasons, but the most important thing is playing in the Real Madrid jersey at the Bernabeu."

He concluded: "The weather was hot, but returning in front of our fans is amazing. They always give us great support, and we want to give our best for them on the pitch and in every match."
