A Silent Message from Flick to Christensen
Sunday 17-08-2025
The priorities of German coach Hans Flick in Barcelona's defense are starting to become clear, as it has become evident that Andreas Christensen ranks fourth among his options in central defense.

Despite being fully fit, Christensen did not participate in Barcelona's match against Mallorca in the first round of La Liga, even though he warmed up during the second half.

Flick opted to include Eric Garcia instead alongside Ronald Araujo after Pau Koubarsi's exit in the final minutes, reflecting the coach's ranking of his players in this position.

Christensen, whose contract expires next June, participated regularly during the summer preparation period, but he only appeared for the last half hour during the match against Como in the Joan Gamper Cup, while the starting players began to increase their playing time at that moment.

Current indications confirm that Flick primarily relies on Araujo, Koubarsi, and Eric Garcia, with Christensen remaining as the fourth option in the central defense for the time being.
